Pine Hill Spur Dwelling
Project:
To furnish my client’s home within a couple weeks of them moving. The bedroom furniture and a dining room table was to be brought from their old house, but all other furnishings including accessories and bathroom hardware would need to be selected, purchased, delivered and installed within a couple weeks.
Inspiration:
The existing finishes throughout the newly built transitional home with comfort in mind as they plan to retire here. No leather and a rocking recliner if possible were two details to keep in mind.
The Client:
Professional husband and wife, who enjoy retreating to their comfortable home in the evenings while watching a Cards’ game.
What We Love:
• How simple I made this process for my client. After retrieving dimensions and taking a handful of pictures of the house, I developed the best furniture layout for the space. Different coordinating pieces of furniture that fit the right size and style were located between a few of the local furniture stores. Pictures were taken of the furniture and organized with prices and dimensions on a word document. My client and I drove around to the different stores and had her furniture selected in a matter of two hours.
• The splash of color that was added in the wall hangings and in the Aztec inspired rug.
• The chevron pattered shower curtain and the white and gray unique textured mirror that I found at Menards. These two items coordinated so well with the existing finishes of the bathroom.
What We Did:
I met my client at the new house to go over what all she and her husband still needed. I took notes, pictures and dimensions of the space and ended up drawing the main open area to scale. I designed an ideal furniture layout and created a shopping list keeping in mind the transitional feel of her new space. I visited a few of the local furniture and home furnishing stores to select pieces that met my style, space and in-stock requirements. I took pictures and logged details to include on the documents I described above, so that my client’s options would be very clear for her. We met one day going from store to store for about two hours and she was quickly able to decide which pieces she liked the best. I purchased the furniture from the stores, coordinated delivery of the items, selected and purchased other finishing touches and coordinated the installation of those as well. Since my clients have made their transition into their new home, they have since asked me to return to select a stain color for their front porch and back deck; to coordinate getting a bid and overseeing the staining till completion. I also selected, purchased and installed all of the exterior seating and accessories once the staining process was complete.
