Honoring Our Veterans Missouri National Veterans Memorial- Perryville, MO

Giving back to the community is important to me; even more so when it’s for our Veterans.

I was approached by a couple of the board members of the Missouri National Veterans Memorial, currently being designed and constructed in Perryville, MO (my home-town), about providing my interior design services to select and produce art for the Welcome Center and to select the interior finishes for the Museum.

This project is well under-way, but there is still a lot that needs to be accomplished. A to-scale replica of the Washington, DC WWII Memorial (a sister wall) has been erected to provide an additional location for individuals to pay their respects to their family, friends and loved ones. The Welcome Center house’s a chapel, gift shop and lobby that will provide potential donors information about naming opportunities to honor their veteran.

To learn more or to donate, please visit the following link and watch the video to see how James “Jim” M. Eddleman (Perryville, MO native) kept a promise to himself to honor all those who served by donating 2.5 million dollars and a 47-acre farm where the memorial is located.

Warm Country Welcome - Uniontown, MO

In March, earlier this year a repeat client requested my assistance putting my eye on their outdoor project. They wanted to clean up the existing side entrance to their home. They wanted to create a more structured and well design facade and walkway to direct guests to their side door instead of their front door.

I met with them to discuss the project and took as many pictures, dimensions and notes as I could in the first meeting. With ideas flowing I was able to produce six layout options. Via email, my clients were able to narrow the plans down to one and from that point I was able to draw elevations including the house and the pergola.

They wanted to work with a company for the concrete, but wanted to remove/relocate all of the landscaping and build the new pergola themselves. I scheduled a meeting to intoduce my client to a local concreter and we went over the drawings with him.

A couple weeks after the meeting with the concreter we obtained a quote for his work, the bid was in line with my client’s budget and my clients had him add their name to his list. The overal design did not change from the first draft, but they decided to wrap the stamped concrete design around to the front of the house. Radius sizes and precise midpoints have been cleaned up, final drawings have been submitted and my clients are currently on the concreter’s list waiting for their turn.

After shots to come ASAP!

Here are a couple shots of the dining room to give you a taste of the temporary finishing touches of phase 1.

Phase 2 will include new furniture and accessories to compliment all of the work completed during phase 1. Research for these new items will resume after the beginning of the year. Final after shots will be taken at that time.

Remodel at the Seminary Church-Perryville, MO

Last year I was hired to design the interior and exterior of the Mary, Queen of all Saints Mausoleum on the grounds of the Mount Hope Cemetary, in Perryville, MO, if you recall. So this year when I was asked if I'd be interested in selecting the new finishes that we're going to be replaced within the Saint Mary's of the Barrens Church, I didn't hesitate a second with my reply. Absolutely!

If you didn't know... the "Seminary" aka Saint Mary's of the Barrens Church was founded in 1818 by the Vincentian Priests and the Seminary Campus is where they lived and studied. In 1917 students at the Seminary began construction of the grotto. Next year will mark the 200th anniversary of the church and the 100th anniversary for the grotto, both of which are being updated.

I have been working with Richardet Floor Covering and the small design committee to select the new flooring, restroom vanities, plumbing fixtures and mirrors. All of these changes are due to be complete by the end of December for the Christmas masses. Phase two, painting, will take place after the first of the year in 2018.

For additional pictures to follow the remodel or for additional information about The Miraculous Medal, The Saint Mary's of the Barrens, The Grotto or how to donate/leave your mark, please visit their website. http://www.amm.org/MarysShrine/Visit%20the%20Shrine.aspx
